Gear pump is a rotary pump that transports or pressurizes liquid depending on the change and movement of working volume formed between pump cylinder and meshing gear.
The gear pump consists of two gears, a pump body and a front cover and a back cover. When the gears rotate, the volume of the space on the disengaging side of the gears increases from small to large, forming a vacuum, sucking the liquid, and the volume of the space on the meshing side of the gears decreases from large to small, thus squeezing the liquid into the pipeline. The suction chamber and the discharge chamber are separated by the meshing line of two gears. The pressure at the discharge port of gear pump depends entirely on the resistance at the pump outlet.
It has the advantages of simple and compact structure, small volume, light weight, good self-priming performance, insensitivity to dirt, reliable operation, long service life, high rotating speed and convenient management and maintenance. There are many kinds of gear pumps, such as involute external gear pump, involute internal gear pump and cycloidal internal gear pump. They are not only used as power components in hydraulic drive systems, but also often used as delivery pumps for various oils.
