The main function of retaining rings in mining machinery and equipment is to limit the axial movement of components clamped between retaining rings. The retaining ring has an inner edge defining a central hole, and the inner edge is defined by a series of n arcs, and the distance between these arcs and the center of the hole gradually decreases along the inner edge from the first end to the second end of each arc. Slide the ring onto the shaft with the corners of the shaft aligned with the first end of the arc, and then rotate the ring on the shaft toward the second end of the arc until the corners of the shaft catch on the inner edge. A special adjustable wrench can be used to tighten and loosen the ring on the shaft.
